CLINTON PRESIDENTIAL CENTER
LITTLE ROCK, AR
March 29, 2011

The concert was wonderful. Anthony Kearns has such beautiful
control of his voice.

We sat in the front row.

He and his accompanist, Patrick Healy, were amusingly
entertaining among the more serious singing.

His repertoire included:
Danny Boy (of course)
Ave Maria
Granada
How Are Things in Glocca Morra?
Funiculi Funicula"

[OF COURSE THIS IS NOT A COMPLETE LIST; UNFORTUNATELY,
THE PROGRAM HAD NO SONG LIST]

Continuing.

Denny and I have always loved opera and classical music
and wonderful singing. Since we hadn't been to any thing like
that in a long while. Anthony Kearns was a real treat for us and,
as you say, there seems to be more of a sweetness and
softness in this Irish tenor and his music when compared to the
Italians. I think there were and are so many great Italian tenors
because of their operatic background. I remember the music
and movies of Mario Lanza and even hearing the old scratchy
recordings of Enrico Caruso. The only Irish tenor I remember is
Dennis Day who was a singer on the old Jack Benny radio
program. He used to sing irish ballads. He was good as I
remember but I'm sure lacked the refinement of Anthony.

We enjoyed talking to him for just a couple minutes.

Our thanks to our friend Lavonne McClish for introducing us
to the music of one Irish Tenor. We thoroughly enjoyed
his beautiful singing."
