RICHARDSON PERFORMANCE HALL
DEL MAR COLLEGE
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX
NOVEMBER 3, 2007
This was my fourth ever Kearns-Healy concert and the first one
without rain. In fact the weather in Corpus Christi was so nice and
warm that Patrick told the audience that friends had taken them
swimming in the ocean (actually the Gulf of Mexico). Others have
eloquently described how impressed they were with the variety and
beauty of the songs chosen for this tour and I liked hearing music
that was more familiar to me than some of the repertoire from my
first concert back in May in Holbrook, Iowa. As for the performance
itself...just stunning. I could never get tired of that voice and Patrick
was also at the top of his game. There were a few differences
from the two Richmond, Virginia shows I also attended. This one
was a benefit for the John Paul II High School and the second half
of the concert started off with a performance from the small but
assured choir and their young choir master. Patrick was very
enthusiastic about them and spoke of the importance of music
education in the schools. Then he gave the audience some
education...he taught us to sing lines from "A Policeman's Lot Is
Not A Happy One" from Pirates of Penzance with him so "Antonio
Banderas" as he called him could hear it from the dressing room.
"Granada" replaced "La Mattinata" as the encore and as a special
bonus, Anthony sang "Boolavogue" to close the show. I've been
lucky to be able to attend these three concerts but it's been well
worth the hassle it took to get to them from Fort Worth, TX.
Those of you who have yet to catch them on this tour have
a breathtaking experience to look forward to!
