ANTHONY'S
SOLO
REVIEWS
NORTHERN HILL CHRISTIAN CHURCH
DENVER, CO
October 9, 2009
It will take a really wonderful show to make me forget about how
lousy the rest of this vacation has been. And happily, it was a
wonderful show. Anthony always gives his best and it was great
having Patrick back. The minute I got here my sinuses closed up
and I can't breathe...I assume this didn't happen to Anthony or he
wouldn't have been able to sing at all but it does seem as if they
shortened the show a little. They didn't do A Father's Prayer or
O Solo Mio. However you got a free listening of Anthony doing his
scales wafting through the ceiling of the ladies restroom! One of
my favorites is Eileen Org. When he sang the line "the hardest
featured man in Petravore" he pointed at Patrick who frowned
in response. At one point Anthony mentioned he might have to go
and get his oxygen mask so maybe he was having some problems
with the climate or atmosphere. I know I was. I heard the people
next to me marvel that he could sing like that in this elevation
without taking a drink of water every minute. Patrick was in great
form and relayed an outrageously hilarious story once told to him
by a long ago famous Irish soprano named Margaret Sheridan. He
sang Galway Bay at the first break and The Girl With The Brogue
at the second break. This wasn't the liveliest audience they've
ever had but I imagine they could have been fretting about the
awful weather they'd have to face to get home. It started sleeting
and snowing before the show ended. It was in the 50's when I left
my hotel and it was in the 20's when I got back. I hope Anthony and
Patrick made it safely to the airport. I'm stranded here in Denver
and typing on the hotel's guest computer. It dropped to 18 degrees.
Now it's still in the 20's and snowing. The roads are iced over and
there's a 30 car pile-up on the freeway I need to get on to get back
to hopefully warmer Texas.
