St. MICHAEL'S CHURCH
HOLBROOK, IA
MAY 6, 2007

I thought the concert was the bee's knees. The weather was less than perfect, but Anthony and Patrick made the sun shine inside the beautiful old St. Michael's church. The concert, as last time, was a fund raiser to help restore the church.

As a habit, I have written down all the songs from my first
Anthony concert in Escondido lo those many years ago.
In Holbrook 2005, he sang 23 songs, in 2007, he sang 20-21 songs,
7-8 were the same, one of which is Danny Boy that he sings in
all concerts. The others, Sorento, Vale of Avoca, Kitty from
Colrane, Bould Gendarmes, Granada I cannot hear enough.
There are always songs that we would just as
soon not hear again, and then there are the ones we could listen
to forever. My only regret is that he did not do the new Romberg
song.

As for the tails,* I think that is Anthony's choice and what he
likes. At least, he doesn't have to worry about what he is going
to wear. He can sing in Bermuda shorts for all I care. With Il
Divo, it is a matter of taste. To me, they are a bit to "practiced."
You want The Tenors to wear those shiny suits that Il Divo wears??

Be that as it may, the concert was wonderful, Anthony was
wonderful, Patrick was wonderful, Vincent was charming,
and all is right with the world. One thing, as Anthony was
singing Danny Boy, here comes a fly, obviously not a Tenor fan,
who landed himself right smack dab on Anthony's nose.
He deftly brushed it aside with a little smile, and didn't miss a note.

*Webmaster note. Some people suggested he might want to
wear civilian clothes.
"Braving thunderstorms and rain, Anthony, Patrick, and Vincent
made it from a Wisconsin concert the night before and blew into
Holbrook, Iowa in plenty of time for the 3:00 afternoon performance.
They all expressed delight to be in this lovely old church with the
beautiful stained glass windows. Anthony remarked, other than
the weather, which brought to mind a typical Irish spring, the
church itself reminded him of the little church where he and
Patrick first performed together at the very beginning of his career."
