Edmund Sullivan, an American born artist specializing in Irish life, was raffling a painting. Edmund had started the painting and the performers were scheduled to come by and add a few strokes of paint to the unfinished painting. The performers then signed the back of the painting. Any person willing to add a few strokes of paint was entered into the drawing.
